Parents of learners who are starting Grade R, Grade 1 or high school next year, are advised to apply to at least three schools and indicate their order of preference on the system. This article will guide on When to Apply for high school at Western Cape.

Parents must upload copies of the following supporting documents: certified copy of ID/birth certificate; transfer card/letter (previous school); immunisation card / Road to Health chart (Primary schools only);

last school report for learners who have been to school; and a study permit issued by the Department of Home Affairs for foreign learners.
Parents have until Tuesday, 17 March to apply and will be informed of the outcome per email or SMS between 15 and 22 May .

Parents will then be required to confirm acceptance by Friday, 5 June .

It is vitally important for parents to adhere to the dates for school admission to help minimize disruptions at schools at the start of the 2026 academic year.

Early enrolment will enable schools and the department to plan ahead.
