Service Owner

NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control (ATC) services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally.
We are looking for 3 Service Owners with significant IT Service Management experience to join our Platform Services, Communications Services and CSAS domains.
Platform Services provide the SIAM layer between ATC Operations and the Technical Services domains e.g. facilities, network infrastructure, Comms/NAV etc. The role involves internal and external customer engagements.
Communications Services involves the provision of radio and transmission communications across circa. 160 UK sites (both ATC centre and remote radar and communication locations).
CSAS (cross-functional) involves the provision of networks, connections and infrastructure. It also provides the overall service management applications and tools including ITSM, ITOM and secure remote access capabilities.
The Service Owners will be responsible for leading the transition from an asset to a service orientated way of working for specific set of services, setting the scope of all service management activities, ensuring they are carried out and embedding these into new ways of working.
Other duties include (but are not limited to):
– Maintaining a 5 year vision, road map and commercial success of the service across all value streams and stakeholders; influencing as and where necessary in order to meet NATS’ strategic goals.
– Maintaining the long term P&L for the service; developing and presenting the operating budget for the services in scope and, upon final budget approval, manage within agreed variances.
– Responsible for negotiating requirements with suppliers, including service and operational level agreements (SLA’s & OLAs) relating to the service.
– The successful management of the service when in operation – meeting KPI’s for all stakeholders and maintaining a continual service improvement plan. Being the escalation point for customers and suppliers, for any issues either in service operation or other parts of the service lifecycle.
Key skills and experience:
– Ability to lead, motivate, collaborate and drive results across multiple organisations (internal and external).
– Good honours degree or equivalent of knowledge acquired through experience, other qualifications and training/development.
– An accomplished, credible and respected leader with well-developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills gained in a complex organisation undergoing significant transformation.
– Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams (that could span marketing, sales, architecture, engineering, suppliers and service operations) across the file service lifecycle and through a matrix based organisation.
– Excellent appreciation of ITIL methodologies and standards; ideally accredited to Practitioner or Manager standards.

This Expression of Interest is for an experienced, adaptable HR professional to join our Hong Kong or UAE office. You will support significant growth across the International business with a clear focus on supporting the development of our people, practices and policies across our Hong Kong, Singapore and UAE offices, ensuring a high-performance culture. You will join a small, local HR team. With 1 direct report, flexibility will be required to cover all aspects of HR as required. You will develop effective relationships across the business and work closely with the Head Office HR team in the UK. Working across multiple time zones, you will need to demonstrate flexibility with working hours.
Other duties include:
- Contribute as a member of broader HR management team to the delivery of NATS People and Organisation Strategy in support of our International business goals and objectives. Initiate and sustain change opportunities at individual and business level
- Be a strategic positioner and change agent within the business, ensuring through deep understanding of business/culture and strategic HR, how to lead and engage varied stakeholders. Translate business needs into effective people management
- Coach, influence and mentor leadership team and other managers to be capable and effective people managers by providing commercially focused, pragmatic HR advice, direction and support
- Effectively support all aspects of employee lifecycle inc. recruitment, development, all employee related matters inc. absence, wellbeing, disciplinary/grievance cases through to effective conclusion
- Act as HR lead on all major international bids. Provide support and guidance to bid capture lead & solution lead. Ensure compliance and effective HR practices are incorporated
- Liaise with Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Occupational Health to establish appropriate practices/support for international employees
- In line with NATS group talent programme, identify and develop individuals. Ensure success and effective succession planning
- Contribute in wider business and HR function to development of NATS business related policies, practices and procedures to protect and develop NATS’ employment propositions across multiple international entities
- Work with international mobility team to effectively support all recruitment and international moves
Essential skills experience:
- Degree level qualification or demonstrable career record of equivalent achievements and outcomes with track record of delivering International HR Business partnering
- Demonstrable knowledge and application of International Employment Law
- Culturally aware, sensitive to local customs, able to adjust personal style accordingly
- Previous experience of managing HR aspects of international bids advantageous
- Previous experience of international mobility advantageous
- Evidence of continual professional development, curious about the future and innovation both in management and HR conceptual thinking and practice, able to innovate and challenge the status quo

We are looking for an experienced Quality Professional to join our team taking oversight of NATS-Wide quality arrangements. We are adopting an Agile (hybrid) working environment which means that while there will be plenty of opportunity to work from home, there is also a requirement for some travel to conduct site visits.
Principal Accountabilities:

We are looking for an energetic, skilled OD facilitator to join us initially on a fixed-term basis for 12 months as Organisation Design (OD) & Development Lead, reporting into the HR Director. You will be leading complex OD work ranging from strategic cross-NATS projects to department-specific projects working with senior stakeholders. Currently there are major operational pieces of design work in process and additional work in the pipeline so we are looking for someone with a strong, demonstrable technical OD background who can hit the ground running.
Other duties include:
- Deliver internal OD consulting services to meet business needs:
- Using our robust OD methodology, support the scoping, development, implementation and evaluation of OD projects, demonstrating tangible results
- Work in close partnership with Head of Learning & Talent to deliver highest quality organisational effectiveness interventions to the business
- Develop and maintain highly effective working relationships with leaders, managers and HRBPs across NATS
- Build OD capability by sharing knowledge, skills and insights
- Act as expert on our NATS OD Methodology, providing guidance and coaching where appropriate
- Develop relationships with key external organisations, maintain awareness of the latest thinking and OD best practice
- Support the delivery of our people priorities for the benefit of the business, taking the lead for design related workstreams on behalf of HRLT where appropriate
- Support our OD Partner from an OD domain expertise and project management perspective
Qualifications and Skills:
- Knowledge of OD and change management methodologies/practices and their appropriate application to different situational needs
- Good honours degree or equivalent knowledge acquired through relevant experience
- OD qualification also desirable (e.g. National Training Laboratories OD Certificate Programme, Ashridge Advanced Organisation Design & Change, Roffey Park Institute OD Practitioners Programme).
Proven experience in:
- Project managing and delivering OD consulting services in complex environments leading to improvement in business performance and effectiveness
- Delivering high quality work within constrained timescales and limited resources
- Building strong, trusted partner relationships with business and HR stakeholders
Demonstrable skills and attitudes:
- Demonstrable business acumen, resilience and tenacity; able to think strategically regarding future design/people capability needs of the organisation and develop creative solutions
