BEC Statement of entry

A Statement of Entry is an official document issued by the BEC that outlines a candidate’s personal details, registered subjects, examination dates, and venues. It serves as proof of registration and is required for admission into examination rooms. Candidates must ensure that all information on the SoE is accurate to avoid any complications on exam day.

How to Obtain Your Statement of Entry

The BEC has streamlined the process of obtaining the SoE through its Malepa online registration portal. Candidates can follow these steps to access their SoE:

  1. Online Registration: Candidates must register online using the Malepa application at https://malepa.bec.co.bw. Upon completion of the registration details, a provisional SoE is generated, indicating the fees to be paid.
  2. Payment of Fees: Using the provisional SoE, candidates should proceed to make payments through the First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) platforms. It’s crucial to use the provided Application Number as the payment reference to ensure proper tracking.
  3. Final Statement of Entry: Once the payment is confirmed by BEC, candidates will receive an SMS notification. They can then log back into the Malepa portal to print the final SoE, which will be used during examinations as proof of registration.

Importance of the Statement of Entry

The SoE is not just a formality; it is a mandatory document for all examination candidates. Without a valid SoE, candidates may be denied entry into the examination room. Additionally, the SoE provides essential information such as:

  • Personal Details: Ensures that the candidate’s name and identification match official records.
  • Examination Schedule: Lists the dates and times for each registered subject, helping candidates manage their study plans effectively.
  • Examination Venues: Specifies the locations where the exams will be held, allowing candidates to familiarize themselves with the venues in advance.

Recent Updates and Changes

In light of national events, such as elections, the BEC may adjust examination timetables. For instance, following the announcement of the election date on 30 October 2024 and a public holiday on 31 October 2024, the 2024 examination timetables were revised. Consequently, candidates were required to destroy old SoEs and print new ones reflecting the updated timetable dates.

It’s imperative for candidates to stay informed about such changes to ensure they attend exams on the correct dates.
