AON FAQs

All you need to know about our programmes, process and more

When is the closing date for the applications to the Aon Early Careers Programmes?

Please see our individual programme pages for specific application deadlines. If you do miss the deadline, we encourage you to keep an eye on our Early Careers website for updates as we may re-open for certain streams or locations or add new roles. Our roles are highly competitive and there are several stages of the recruitment process to be completed prior to assessment centres, therefore we do encourage candidates to complete applications as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

Do I need specific qualifications to apply?

To be considered for one of our Graduate, Summer Internship or Industrial Placements, you must be on track to achieve a minimum of a 2:1. Each stream requires different disciplines and skillsets, please review the specific requirements on each stream before applying.

For our Apprenticeships, each stream will require a certain number of UCAS points along with 5 GCSE’s graded 9-4 (A*-C). Please review the specific requirements on each stream before applying.

We are looking for qualities that will enable you to work effectively in one of our teams. We look for many different skills ranging from creativity, logical thinking, communication skills, numerical, motivation and client focus.

A past application wasn’t successful, can I reapply?

We welcome re-applications from unsuccessful candidates. We recommend 12 months between applications to allow you time to demonstrate that you have taken feedback onboard and worked on the advice provided. This will give you a better opportunity when being assessed a second time.

What is the salary of the Aon Early Careers Programmes?

The salaries for our Graduates, Interns and Apprentices are competitive and in line with the market rates. The Graduates and Apprentices will also receive a comprehensive pension and flexible benefits package as a permanent Aon employee and 25 days paid holiday per annum.

When do the Assessment Centres take place?

  • Graduate Assessment Centres will take place from November/December 2020 into early 2021 for our 2021 Graduate Programmes.
  • Summer Internship and Industrial Placement Assessment Centres will take place from November/December 2020 into early 2021 for our 2021 Programme.
  • Apprentice Assessment Centres for our 2020 Programme will take place from February 2021.

How do I secure my place at an Assessment Centre?

Our assessment centres will be held on a rolling basis until we have filled all roles. We select candidates for assessment centre based on several criteria; location preference, scores and performance throughout all stages of the recruitment process so far and in some cases, availability for any early starting roles. Each of our assessment centres is run based on programme and location, therefore please keep in mind that not all assessment centres are applicable to all candidates, and therefore we will need to be organising once specific for your application before formally inviting you. This process can take some time but please be assured, we will contact you regardless of the outcome and will be in regular contact with you to keep you updated and let you know that we are still considering your application for the shortlist.

What do the Assessment Centres involve?

The content and structure of the day will vary depending on the position and stream that you are applying for. On the day we’ll put you to the test through a range of group and individual exercises as well as giving you the opportunity to meet some of our recent intakes and colleagues from the business to answer all your questions. Our assessment centres are a two way street; yes we are looking to test your skill set and knowledge in relation to the role, but it is also an opportunity to learn about Aon and our programmes to decide if this is right for you.

Given the current climate, we are planning for all assessment centres to be held virtually. The structure and format will be very similar that of an in-person day.

When will the roles be starting?

  • Summer Internship and Industrial Placement roles will be starting in mid-late June 2021.
  • Graduate roles will be starting at the end of August/early September 2021.
  • Apprentices will be starting at the end of September 2021.

Are there other Graduate/Apprentice level roles outside of the formal programme?

Aon recruit for entry level roles across the UK regularly and these can be great opportunities to start working in the industry.

As these roles are not part of our formal launch programme the training and development opportunities will vary to those on our Graduate and Apprenticeship programmes, however Aon prides itself on being a company that supports the growth and development of employees at all levels and in all different sectors.

Further details about these roles can be found on our careers page www.aon.co.uk/careers

Are there opportunities to apply for roles at Aon in other countries?

Aon is a global company with 50,000 professionals working in more than 500 offices in more than 120 countries, which means the opportunities are endless. While this Early Careers website is focused around the recruitment of Graduates, Interns and Apprentices based in the UK, details regarding entry level roles in our offices around the world can be found on our global careers page http://jobs.aon.com

No. You will only be required to take the online tests once and the results will be used for all other applications you submit.
