Botswana Examinations Council: A Key Institution

The BEC was established by an Act of Parliament in 2002, making it a corporate body responsible for conducting national examinations such as the Junior Certificate Examination (JCE) and the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE).

One of the most important functions of the BEC is the timely release of examination results. In 2025, the Junior Certificate (JC) results were released in the last week of January, while the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) results were made available in the third week of February.
