UFS Password Change

To change your UFS Password. Every 90 days, UFS students must change their passwords. When your password is about to expire, you will receive an email notification.

For further security, you may want to change your password on a frequent basis.

Your password will be used to access your email, get on to the internet on campus, and even register for classes through UFS PeopleSoft.

Take a look at the Ufs password policy in the image below before changing your password. This will walk you through the process of changing your password.

HOW TO CHANGE UFS SELF SERVICE PASSWORD

To change your UFS self service password:

  1. Go to the UFS website on your web browser (preferably Chrome),
  2. Log in by typing your UFS student number and your current password and click on sign in,
  3. Click on the ”change password” option.
  4. Type in a new password in the ”new password” and ”confirm password” textboxes.
  5. Click ”change password”

Note that previously used passwords are not allowed. Due to the sensitive nature of your data, the password requires some level of complexity. Refer to the password policy image above. If the password entered does not satisfy the requirements, the system will inform you using a dialog box.

HOW TO RESET UFS ORACLE PASSWORD

If you’ve forgotten your password, click “Forgotten Password” and follow the on-screen instructions to reset it.

The University of the Free State will send an SMS message to the cellphone number associated with your account on the UFS system, or an email to the personal email address associated with your account on the UFS system, to reset your password.

This system will generate a security code that you will need to reset your password. By pressing the Search button, you authorize UFS to send an SMS to your mobile phone number or an email to your personal email address.
