SSC Kit Car

Originally designed by Jeremy Phillips, the model went out of production in 2008 when erstwhile custodian, Tim Benbow, decided to concentrate on his main business. Not before he’d thoroughly developed the car with an alternative body option, known as the RT, and new engine choices.

Much like any Phillips-penned model, the Stylus handles for fun, while differs from its Phoenix and Fury brothers by having doors, boot and windscreen as standard.

The new owner of the Stylus project is petrolhead, Matt Downes, who has owned several Stylus models over the years including a Rover V8-powered version. Matt’s father ran an engineering machine shop for many years, while he has worked in electronics for 20-years.

One big change that Hampshire-based Matt is making will be to convert the car to Mazda MX-5 donor underpinnings and a new demonstrator will be built over the coming winter in time for next Spring’s re-launch. The new operation will also be able to serve existing owners with spare parts.
