How to apply for WITS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for admission into the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Short Courses, and Masters programmes offered for the 2026 academic year.

The University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) online admission application form 2026 is open to all interested applicants irrespective of colour, race, ethnic identity, religion, gender, or national origin, provided they qualify for the programme for which they have applied.

To use the Online Application System you will need internet access, as well as an email address that you can access regularly because as soon as you submit your online application, a confirmation mail will be sent to your email address.

Both South Africans and Interested foreign applicants can apply for the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) Application Form 2026 as Government Sponsored or Private candidates.

WITS University Online Application 2026

The application is made through filling the application form online at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) admission portal.

Note – Once the WITS University Admission Application Portal/Form closed, new applications will not be accepted. So register now while the applications for each program is still ongoing.

STEP 1 – Apply Online

  1. You may apply for a maximum of three programmes (order of choice does not matter).
  2. If you apply for two programmes within one Faculty, you are advised to apply for one programme in a less restricted faculty (e.g. Humanities, Commerce or Science).
  3. Try to keep your options open, especially when applying for programmes in Faculties such as Health Sciences or Engineering.
  4. Do not enter the duration of the programme. You are applying to go into 1st year of study.
  5. non-refundable application fee of R100 for South African citizens, and R700 for foreign citizens, is required.
