How do I cancel my Sanlam policy?

If you are the Primary Covered Person on your Funeral Plan, you may cancel your policy by giving one month’s notice to Sanlam. In order to do so, simply call The Sanlam Contact Centre team on Sharecall 0860 426 837 (0860 icover).

Your cancellation will take place with immediate effect, and you, along with any family members on your funeral plan, will no longer be covered by funeral insurance. Please note that unless you cancel your Family Funeral Plan within the cooling-off period, you will not qualify for a refund on any premiums already paid.  

Cancellations

  • You may end your membership of Sanlam Reality on 30 (thirty) days’ prior notice to Sanlam Reality via fax (021 700 8750), email (info@sanlamreality.co.za), phone (0860 732 548/9) or letter. This means that you will still be liable for one month’s membership fee.
  • Sanlam Reality may end your membership of Sanlam Reality at any time, for any reason whatsoever eg when you give us false information. In such event, Sanlam Reality is not liable for any loss, of any nature, suffered by you or any third party.
  • Benefits available through Sanlam Reality are no longer available to you when your membership of Sanlam Reality ends, unless expressly stated otherwise.
  • In accordance with a decision taken by the PASA Council in November 2021, clients are only able to dispute a sale/registration/reinstatement or upgrade to Sanlam Reality up to 12 months from action date. This means that any refund payable to the client will only be for the fees payable to a maximum of 12 months back from the date of dispute.

What happens if I cancel my Sanlam policy?

You will not earn telematics points in the month that your Sanlam policy has been cancelled or for any other month where your Sanlam policy was inactive.

Will I be refunded if I cancel my policy during the waiting period?

Sanlam Indie, like all insurers, won’t refund your premiums if you cancel your insurance during the waiting period, because it would just be too expensive for us as a business.

On the plus side, we do offer a standard 31-day cool-off period as required by law. That means you can cancel your policy within this period for a full refund.

Remember, the waiting period only applies to claims for natural causes or suicide. You’ll be covered for accidental events from the moment you sign up.
