Use the NOVA service to tell HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ) you’ve brought a vehicle into the UK. You can use the service if: you’re a VAT-registered business that does not use the secure registration scheme.
Use the NOVA service to tell HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) you’ve brought a vehicle into the UK.
You can use the service if:
- you’re a VAT-registered business that does not use the secure registration scheme
- you’re not VAT-registered and you’ve imported a vehicle from the EU into Northern Ireland
- you’re not VAT-registered and you’ve imported a vehicle from the EU using a delayed declaration
- you’ve imported a vehicle that was purchased and made available within the EU and either arrived or began transiting to the UK before 11pm on 31 December 2026

Before you start
To use this service you need a Government Gateway user ID and password. If you do not have a user ID, you can create one when you use the service.
After you’ve made a NOVA vehicle arrival notification, you can see updates from HMRC in your secure communications area.
