Application Period for 2025

UNAM is now accepting applications for the 2025 academic year. The application window for international students runs from May 30 to July 31. It is essential to submit your application within this period to ensure your place at the university.

Study Permit Information

International students who plan to study in Namibia must obtain a study permit and a visa before entering the country. This is mandatory under the Immigration Control Act of 19 August 1993. There is an exception for individuals with Permanent Namibian Residency, refugees or asylum seekers, and diplomatic representatives, who do not need to apply for a study permit.

However, for all international students, the following documents must be submitted for your study permit application:

  • Completed visa application form
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Medical aid/insurance proof
  • Police clearance from home country

Additionally, UNAM works in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety & Security to ensure international students can apply for study permits during the university’s registration period.

Study Permit Fees

International students must pay the necessary study permit fees. For first-year and English language students, the application handling fee is 80 NAD. Once your study permit application is approved, you will need to pay a permit fee of 2,200 NAD. Senior or returning students will also pay a 2,200 NAD fee when submitting their application.

Covid-19 Considerations

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the procedures for obtaining a study permit may change. It is advised to stay updated by regularly checking the university’s website and social media pages for the latest information.

What to Submit at Border Checkpoints

When entering Namibia for academic registration at UNAM, you must declare your purpose at the border checkpoint. Returning and senior students need to submit the following documents:
