This guide explains how to pay your CIPA annual return fees, avoid late penalties, and ensure your company remains in good standing.
What is the CIPA Annual Return Fee?
All registered companies in Botswana must pay an annual return fee of P500. This fee can be paid conveniently online via the Online Business Registration System (OBRS) using a debit or credit card. If you don’t have a bank card, you can still make a cash deposit at a First National Bank (FNB) branch or a CIPA office.

Late Payment Penalties and Consequences
If you fail to file your annual return by the due date, the following penalties apply:
- Late penalty fee: P500
- Removal from the register: If the return is not filed and paid by the 11th day of the following month, your company will be deregistered.
- Restoration fee: If your company is removed from the register, you will need to pay P2,000 plus all outstanding annual return fees to restore it.
CIPA Annual Return Filing Deadline
The deadline for filing your CIPA annual return is based on your company’s original month of incorporation. Ensure you check your registration date to avoid late fees and penalties.
