The Conciliation, Conciliation and Arbitration Commission (CCMA) was established under the Industrial Relations Act 1995, as amended. Its mission is to promote social justice and To promote fairness.
The mandatory statutory duties of CCMA are:
- resolve conflicts at work
- Arbitration of Certain Categories of Disputes Unresolved After Arbitration, Establishing Pickett Rules
- Promote the establishment of workplace forums and legal councils
- Compilation and publication of information and statistics on CCMA activities
- Accreditation and review of grant applications from negotiating bodies and private institutions
- Support the Essential Services Committee.
