The Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) has officially opened applications for the March 2025 Intake and Special Applications. If you’re a new applicant aiming to kickstart a vocational training journey, here’s everything you need to know to successfully apply and secure your spot.
Important Dates and Campuses
All NIMT campuses in Arandis, Keetmanshoop, and Tsumeb are gearing up to welcome Level 1, 2, and 3 trainees starting on 04 March 2025. Ensure that your application is complete and submitted before the deadline on 26 January 2025 at 12 noon. Privately funded trainees must also finalize registration before the closing date.
Application Guidelines
The application process requires careful attention to detail. Ensure you have all the necessary documentation and follow the guidelines provided by NIMT. Incomplete or late applications may lead to disqualification.
Required Documents for Application
Applicants must attach certified copies of the following documents to their application:
- Latest Payslips and Tax Information:
- Payslip of both parents (or pension card/unemployment declaration/death certificate if applicable)
- Tax number of both parents
- Academic Qualifications:
- National Cambridge/NSSCO Grade 11 certificate or statement of results
- Any additional qualifications, such as N1, N2, or N3 certificates
- Identification:
- ID cards of both parents
- Special Requirements for NSFAF Candidates:
- If applying for financial assistance from the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF), you must attach:
- An NSFAF Acknowledgement Letter
- Your academic certificate with pass marks in Mathematics, Science, and English
- A certified copy of your ID card
- A declaration of unemployment (if applicable)
- A driver’s license (if available)
- If applying for financial assistance from the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF), you must attach:

Financial Assistance for Special Trainees
Special Traineeship candidates may qualify for financial assistance through NSFAF if they meet the following criteria:
- The combined income of both parents does not exceed N$500,000.00 per annum.
- The applicant is an unemployed Namibian citizen.
How to Apply for NSFAF Assistance: Applicants must apply online via the NSFAF portal and attach the NSFAF Acknowledgement Letter to their NIMT application.
