When waste is moved or disposed of you must use a waste transfer note/consignment note. This describes the waste, producer of the waste and the disposal point. A standard coding system classifies and describes the type of waste. These are called EWC Codes (European Waste Codes) as specified in the List Of Waste Regulations.

- 10 13 10 wastes from asbestos-cement manufacture other than those mentioned in 10 13 09
15 WASTE PACKAGING, ABSORBENTS, WIPING CLOTHS, FILTER MATERIALS AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED
- 15 01 11 metallic packaging containing a hazardous solid porous matrix (for example asbestos), including empty pressure containers
16 WASTES NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED IN THE LIST
- 16 01 11 brake pads containing asbestos
- 16 02 12 discarded equipment containing free asbestos
17 CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTES (INCLUDING EXCAVATED SOIL FROM CONTAMINATED SITES)
