Why are CRA wait times so long?

Why are CRA wait times so long? Most of our call centres continue to be open, but you may experience longer than usual wait times due to measures taken surrounding the COVID-19 virus. We have fewer agents available because we’ve had to make adjustments to our workforce to ensure the health and safety of our employees.

COVID-19: Expect the normal timeframe to be extended to 10 to 12 weeks in most cases for processing paper T1 returns. For faster service, you can submit or re-submit your return electronically using NETFILE certified tax software.
